The Seattle Seahawks not only got trounced 42-20 to the Green Bay Packers, but they may have lost their best big play option at wide receiver for part of or all of the 2008 season. The former Super Bowl MVP may have torn his ACL in the playoff game. He is seeking a second opinion, but it seems likely Branch will be out for a good portion of next season’s games.
Look for the Seahawks to counter in the draft or even in free-agency. Could a free agent like Bernard Berrian or Devery Henderson find his way to Seattle? If a guy like Paul Allen is bankrolling your team, it’s certainly possible.
Barber, Now a Top Five Fantasy Player
Although the Cowboys lost against the Giants 21-17 on Sunday, you’ve got to love the game Marion Barber had. The ‘Barbarian’ rushed over 120-yards and scored on a goal line carry. Dallas showed they are not only committed to Barber, but also to the running game as they leaned heavy on the Giants defensive line. With Offensive Coordinator, Jason Garrett seemingly heading to Baltimore, my best guess is the Cowboys continue to commit more to the run. With more of a consistent work load it’s time to move Barber in the top five in most fantasy drafts.
Norm Chow becomes Scapegoat
Jeff Fisher is probably a top five current NFL head coach, but the dismissal of Norm Chow smells like a ‘scapegoat firing’. Chow’s offenses were best known as good running teams, but it had to be. Quarterback Vince Young, proves that at this stage, he is a runner first and passer second. Like Michael Vick, Young is a talent tease, one that can get coaches fired. If Vince Young doesn’t get any better, look for Fisher to bite the bullet next. Needless to say, Vince Young is still just a fantasy bye week fill-in.
